Measurement for mixing ratio of impurities such as kerosine in gasoline
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To enable the measurement of mixing ratio of impurities quickly and simply by a method wherein an azine dye is attached at specified points of a stationary phase comprising a paper and immersed in a solvent to be analyzed to measure the transfer distance thereof, which is compared with a reference value. CONSTITUTION:A gasoline 2 mixed with impurities as solvent to be measured is first put into a test tube 1, covered with a rubber stopper 3 and then, allowed to stand for about 10min until it is saturated therein 1. Then, a red spot (p) of nigrosine black of an azine dye is attached at a point 2cm from the lower end of a paper 4 as a stationary phase and the development distance is so fixed at about 10cm that the paper 4 is immersed by about 0.5cm in the solvent 2 in the test tube 1. As soon as the solvent 2 reaches the line l at the developing distance of the paper 4, the paper 4 is taken out immediately and dried. Then, the moving distance of the dye is measured and compared with a reference value.
