Side-to-bottom-joint construction in a tank for low temperature liquid
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To dispense with a specially provided structure with a sealed chamber by installing a cover plate outside a joint in such a manner that it follows the behavior of the joint part and by welding the cover plate to a side plate and a bottom plate, forming an airtight space. CONSTITUTION:When an inner hull 6, at least its joint part 8, is formed, a steel cover plate 15, whose cross section is like a 1/4 circle, is installed around the entire periphery of the joint part 8 and welded to the outer surface of a side wall plate 9 and to the upper surface of a bottom plate 7 so that an airtight chamber 16, is formed thus both inside and outside and partitioned. An opening 17 is made in the cover plate 15, and connected to a small diameter pipe 18, which goes through a side wall plate 3 of a outer hull 4. The outer end of the pipe 18 is connected to a inspection gas source 20 via a valve 19. Accordingly, a structure with a sealed chamber is no longer required to be provided specially.
