Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To perform considerable broad rolling and edging and to supress temp. drop by providing a rolling mill for rolling the central part in the width direction and a horizontal rolling mill in the fore stage of a roughing mill group in such a way as to pass the strip twice therethrough the disposing the final stands in tandem. CONSTITUTION:A rolling mill 4 which rolls only the central part in the width direction of a steel strip is disposed in the fore stage of a roughing mill group 1 and a horizontal rolling mill 5 which rolls the entire width of the strip is disposed just behind the mill 4 in such a way that the strip can pass through the mill 5 twice. Under the said equipments, the broad rolling of a steel strip is performed. At least two stands 10, 11 of the final stage are disposed in tandem to prevent the temp. drop in the group 1. The edging is performed by a scale breaker VSB and edgers E2-E5. The products having a wide range of width sizes are obtained with the above-mentioned rolling installations and the efficiency of production in a continuous casting method is improved.
