Clutch-operation control device for torque converter in car transmission gear box
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To obtain the efficient transmission of torque in a wide range of dirve area by enabling to switch over the operational state of a torque-converter clutch into a sliding state at a comparatively low speed and into a directly-connected state at a comparatively high speed by means of a switching device reacting to the car speed. CONSTITUTION:A torque converter 4 is provided with a clutch 19 to connect and disconnect an input case 14 on the input side with a turbine runner 17 on the output side, and the connecting and disconnecting operation is controlled by the charging and discharging operation of pressurized oil into an oil chamber 20 by a clutch control valve 21. In this construction, a switching device 29 is provided to switch over the opertional state of the clutch 19 between a directly-connected state between input and output sides of a torque converter 4 and a sliding state to permit the sliding between them. This switching device 29 is constructed of check valves 30, 31, and 32 provided in the first and the second oil-discharge routes LD1 and LD2 in parallel with each other connected to an inner gap 16 between the input case 14 of the torque converter 4 and a pump runner 15, and set pressures of these valve 30-32 are respectively selected at specific values.
