Catalyst body for cleaning up particulates
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst body for cleaning up particulates in waste gas which is improved in combustion efficiency and is so formed as to burn particulates thoroughly by a method wherein a catalyst for burning said particulates is deposited on a solid acid. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst body obtd. by depositing a catalyst for burning particulates on a solid acid consisting of composite oxides of >= two metals exhibiting the characteristics of Broensted acid or Lewis acid (for example, a combination of titania, cupper oxide, magnesia, zinc oxide, cadmium oxide, alumina, silica, zirconia, etc.). Metallic oxides, etc. of copper, lead, iron, Co, Ni, etc. are used as the catalyst for burning the particulates. Such catalytic body is disposed in the waste gas passage of engines to capture the particulates such as soot or benzpyrene in the waste gas. The captured particulates are perfectly burned at low temp. by the effect of the catalyst body.
