Power operated hollow chuck

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To confirm a holding and release state of a work, by constituting a chuck so that the position of a piston sleeve end part may be detected by a proximity switch and surely detecting movement of the pawl electrically at a position located far from a cutting position. CONSTITUTION:A master pawl 15 is slidably fitted to a pawl mounting groove 4 in a power operated hollow chuck, further an annular cylinder main unit 28 is air-tightly mounted to the cylinder mounting part 12 of a chuck main unit 2. Then in case of some cause, for instance, failure in the automatic exchanger of a work, when a holding pawl 18 can not hold the work, a piston sleeve 35 of a hollow piston 34 is slided rearward to a backward moving end position and moved into at a face-to-face position to the detection part of a proximity s witch 54, then proximity switches 53, 54 become ON, ON states, thus a pawl 14 is detected not to hold the work, finally a machine tool is turned to an inoperational state.
