Linear displacement detection
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the detection accuracy by checking displacement of a mag- netic resistance element from changes in the output thereof with the diretion rota- tion of a combined magnetic field created by two permanent magnets arranged in the manner so as to be varied in the height with respect to the moving axis of the magnetic resistance element. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic resistance element 3 is so arranged that the displace- ment line m thereof to be detected becomes normal line with respect to the mag- netism-sensitive plane thereof. a first permanent magnet 4 is arranged on a plane perpendicular to the normal and a second permanent magnet 5 on a plane perpen- dicular to the normal while different in the height from the first permanent magnet 4. The permanent magnets 4 and 5 are made to differ in the direction of the mag- netic pole from each other to set the angle between the two magnetic poles at about 90 deg.. As the magnetic resistance element 3 is moved vertically along the normal m, the output thereof varies with the directional rotation of the combined magnetic field by both the magnets 4 and 5. The detection of the changes in the output in- dicates the position of the linear displacement of the element thereby assuring a stable detection accuracy.
