Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: A fomentation useful for remedying neuralgia, muscular pain, etc. easily, comprising a specific humectant and water. CONSTITUTION: A fomentation comprising a water-insoluble and water absorbing resin as a humectant and 30W70wt%, preferably 40W60wt% water. A polymer obtained by polymerizing a water-soluble monomer and/or monomer A which becomes water-soluble by hydrolysis with starch and/or cellulose B and a crosslinking agent C as essential ingredients, and, if necessary, followed by by hydrolysis, is cited as the water-soluble and water absorbing resin. The particle diameter of the water absorbing resin is usually ≤300μ, preferably ≤100μ. The amount of the water absorbing resin used is 0.03W10wt%, preferably 0.5W5wt% based on the fomentation. The amount of a base for wet compress is 3W30wt%, the amount of a softening agent (e.g., glycerol, etc.) is 1W50wt%, and the amount of a drug for wet compress (e.g., methyl salicylate) is 0.1W10wt%.
