Reciprocating internal combustion engine with piston linked with two connecting rods
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To keep an inclination of a piston at an angle 0° in an internal combustion engine wherein two connecting rods are linked with an elliptical piston by respectively locating the liked centers of the connecting rods at the centers of gravity exhibited by symmetrically bisecting the piston in a plane figure. CONSTITUTION: Pin bosses 5, 6 are formed on a piston 3 for sustaining a piston pin 7 which is transversely laid thereon and suspends two connecting rods 8, 9. When a pressure of a buring gas is applied on the upper face of the piston 3 whose bisected left and right parts with respect to a center of the pin are independently out of balance, inclined angles θ at the suspending point (a), (a) of the connecting rods are not zero, which is a cause of a seizure of the connecting rods when their side faces on the larger ends are pressed by a crankshaft 10. For preventing the seizure, the centers of gravity of the left and right bisected parts with respect to the center line A-A of the pin should agree with the points (a), (a). This preventive manner is applicable for a bending moment produced by an inertia force. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
