Magnetic disc

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To facilitate positioning of a magnetic head by forming magnetic films having an easy to magnetize axis in the direction perpendicular to a disc surface to uniform thickness in information regions and in a stripe shape in servo-regions. CONSTITUTION:A disc substrate 1 has information regions 2 and servo-regions 3. Magnetic films are formed uniformly in the regions 2, but in the regions 3, magnetic films having an easy to perpendicularly magnetize axis corresponding to two frequency regions (for example, f1, f2) are formed alternately in a stripe shape to f1, f2, f1, f2... from the outside toward the inside. The center of the magnetic head is so constituted that a servomechanism acts so as to run in the boundary of the f1 and f2. Further, if a blank part is provided between the region f1 and f2, the difference in the intensities of the signals induced in the magnetic head from the regions f1 and f2 is distinct and tracking is accomplished with good accuracy.
