Copolymer latex for self-adhesive and self-adhesive composition

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: A copolymer latex for self-adhesives, which has excellent adhesiveness and water resistance, prepared by copolymerizing butadiene with an alkyl (meth) acrylate and other copolymerizable monomers. CONSTITUTION: A copolymer latex for self-adhesive, prepared by polymerizing 5W80wt% butadiene with 3W80wt% at least one alkyl (meth)acrylate, e.g., ethyl acrylate or lauryl methacrylate, and other copolymerizable monomers, e.g., styrene or (meth)acrylic acid. A self-adhesive composition which can provide self-adhesives used in cellophane tapes, labels, seals, etc., is obtained by mixing the above latex with a thicknener, e.g., carboxymethylcellulose or PVA.
