Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent the scattering matter, vapor, etc. scattered by the irradiation of laser beam from depositing on the inside surface of the light transmitting member of a vacuum vessel by irradiating the laser beam to a rotatable body after injecting a gas into the vacuum vessel. CONSTITUTION:A rotatable body 2 is rotated by a rotating and driving mechanism and a vacuum pump 4 is operated to evacuate and suck the inside of a vacuum vessel 1. When the number of revolutions of the rotatable body 2 arrives at a dangerous number of revolutions, the vibrations of the rotatable body 2 are detected and measured by using a vibration detector 5, and from the results thereof, the unbalance quantity of the rotatable body 2 is detected by an electronic computer 6, and the working rate necessary for eliminating this unbalance is determined. Next, the number of revolutions of the rotatable body 2 is lowered down to a workable speed, and a gas is injected by opening the stop valve 12 of a gas injection tube 11. The laser beam from a laser oscillator 10 is irradiated to the prescribed position on the surface of the rotatable body 2, so that part of the surface is melted and scattered. Thereby, the diffusion of the scattering matter and vapor is prevented by the inert gas, and their pickup on the inside surface of the light transmitting member is prevented.
