Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To realize the lowering of the operational temperature, the improvement of the reliability, the lowering of the power consumption and the simplification of the drive circuit, by employing a coil-shaped heater to form a cathode and using single cathode for single picture element. CONSTITUTION:A supporting member 12 is arranged between the picture elements of a back substrate 11. Said board 12 will hold predetermined section except the effective section of a thermal cathode of said coil-shaped heater 13 coated with the thermion emission subsistance. A supporting board 15, ribbon-shaped first electrode 16, supporting board 17 ribbon-shaped second electroed 18, supporting board 19 ard planar electrode 20 are provided on said coil-shaped heater 13. A planar fluorescent face 23 is provided through a circular spacer 21 on said third electrode 20.
