Semi-submerged catamaran
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To reduce wave drag in the rear part of a propeller, by forming a strut above the propeller to bulge shape in a semi-submerged catamaran whose upper structure is mounted to the top part of a submerged body arranged with a propeller in its rear part through the strut. CONSTITUTION: In a semi-submerged catamaran whose upper structure is mounted to the top part of a submerged body 1 arranged with a propeller 4 at its rear part through a strut 2, inner and outer surfaces of the strut 2 situated above the propeller 4 are formed into bulge shape 6. In this way, occurrence of propeller racing arising from level down of water in the vicinity of the propeller caused at sailing of a ship can be prevented to both increase sailing performance in waves and reduce wave drag thus improve propulsion performance.
