Wheel structure for transportation vehicle

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To reduce the wear of a wheel, by mounting the wheel away from to the axis of rotation of a wheel mechanism rotatably fitted on a base. CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical steering shaft 2 is rotatably supported by a bearing 12 on a base 1. A wheel 7 is mounted at the lower part of the steering shaft 2 so that the wheel 7 is located at a distance of l from the axis of rotation of the shaft 2. The wheel 7 can be driven through a shaft 36 and gears 20, 33 by a motor 35 provided on the base 1. A sectorial gear 21 is secured on the lower end of the cylindrical steering shaft 2 and engaged with a gear 25 connected to a motor 28. The steering shaft 2 can be rotated by driving the motor 28. According to this constitution, the wheel 7 is rotated in rolling contact with the surface of floor in steering operation.
