Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To perform stable biological treatment and to improve the quality of water after the treatment by adding powder active carbon and a nitrogen compound to waste liquid from an electrodeposition painting stage, subjecting the same to a neutral activated sludge treatment and subjecting the outflow water thereof to an ordinary activated sludge treatment. CONSTITUTION: Powder active carbon and a nitrogen compound of about ≥10% amt. based on the concn. of BOD are added to the waste liquid discharged from an electrodeposition painting process using cationic paint, and the treatment is accomplished with the activated sludge of a logarithmically increasing period near the neutral pH. It is equally well to add to powder active carbon to the waste water flowing into an aeration tank and to add it directly into the aeration tank. The amt. of addition in this case is generally 1,000W10,000ppm. Ammonia, ammonium sulfate, urea, etc. are used for the nitrogen compound. Thence, the outflow water contg. dispersible bacteria is treated by an ordinary activated sludge method. In this way, it is flowed into the aeration tank, where it is flowed into the aeration tank, where it is subjected to an aerobic biological treatment. COPYRIGHT: (C)1982,JPO&Japio
