Ignition timing controller for multicylinder internal combustion engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To improve the power characteristic and the fuel consumption performance of an engine by detecting a cylinder in which a knocking occurs and controlling the ignition timing for each cylinder. CONSTITUTION:An arithmetic amplifier 10 obtains a fundamental ignition timing A from the output A of a load detector 4 and the output N of a rotating speed detector 5. Then, the content alpha of a memory 20 is altered by the output of knocking level discriminator 3. In case, for example, of 4-cylinder engine, memories 21-24 are provided for the first, second, third and fourth cylinders, and the contents alpha are stored for the respective cylinders. The values of the alpha are varied, thereby controlling the ignition limits for the respective cylinders. A memory 25 for discriminating the cylinder counts up the number of reference angle signal pulses from a cranking angle sensor 6, and immediately set it to ''1'' when the content becomes ''5'', and is reset to ''0'' when an ignition key is made ON.
