Device for handling sheet

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To enable the accurate and stable putting-in and conveyance of sheets in a device which performs the distribution, putting-in, conveyance or the like of the sheets processed by a copier or the like, by using two position detectors to control the operation of a sheet container. CONSTITUTION: In an embodiment for a sorter which includes sheet containers (trays) 4 (4 1 W4 10 ) at many levels and sequentially puts sheets conveyed from a copier 24, into the trays 4, an opening of height equal to the spacing between the trays 4 is provided on a vertically moving member 6 which can be displaced up and down along the guide groove 8 of a prop 7. Position sensors 16A, 16B are attached to the prop 7 to detect the opening. When the opening is detected, the sheet inlet port of the tray 4 corresponding to the opening is made coincident with the position of the nipping parts of movable rollers 2, 3. Sheet sensors 17, 18 are provided between the tray 4 and the nipping parts so that the sheet sensors are located in such positions as to pinch a sheet conveyance passage to detect that the sheet is put in one of the trays 4.
