Filler composition at lap welding of steel plate
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: A filler composition which is so formulated as to suppress the evolution of hydrogen and oxygen gases at the lap welding by compounding the specific amount of the fine powder of a slag forming agent in a resin material forming hard films. CONSTITUTION: ≥60wt% Fine powder and graines of a slag forming agent such as titanium oxide or calcium carbonate are compounded in a hard-film forming component of alkyd-base resin etc. Further, if necessary, a deoxidizing material, a dehydrogenating agent, etc. are added and a suitable solvent and a thickener are added. The mixture is then adjusted to coating form. If this filler composition is coated on the two superposing surfaces of steel materials and welding is done, the welding work becomes easy and it promotes the formation of slag to suppress the solidification of molten metal or promotes the dissipation of the gas evolved by lowering the melting point of slag. Hence, the gas components in the molten metal are prevented from remaining and good welding is done. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
