Preparation of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene mold material
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a mold material without abrasion due to a screw or a cylinder of an extruding machine and having a given cross section in a low price by a method wherein a glass long fiber is extruded to the point part of a heating cylinder and it is embedded in polypropylene and then, it is pulled out. CONSTITUTION: When polypropylene is extruded from an extruding machine, a glass long fiber 11 is induced from a conduit 10 to the point part of a heating cylinder 3 and enters a melted polypropylene 12 extruded by means of an extruding screw 4, passes through a metallic network 7 and a breaker plate 6 and is extruded via a preparatory molding metallic mold 5. Whereas, a hardening of polypropylene 12 proceeds and the glass long fiber 11 is buried therein, to be made into one body, thus, a preparatory molding 13 is produced. Next thereto, the preparatory molding 13 is grasped as it is and induced to a drawing machine and the cross section of the molding 13 is reduced by means of a main molding metallic mold equipped therein and a mold material 14 having an intended given shape is obtained. The glass long fiber 11 does not pass through a space between an extruding screw 4 and the heating cylinder 3, as a result, abrasion due to these both is not generated, thus, prolonging its life.
