Production of novel vinyl sulfide

Abstract

Abstract NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I [R 1 is H, hydroxyl, hydroxymethyl; R 2 is H, 1W10C alkyl; R 3 is H, 1W10C alkyl where R 3 may have one or two double or triple bonds in any position; one of P and Q is R 4 S (R 4 is 1W10C alkyl) and the other is H or both of them are R 4 S; dotted line incorporates with real line to represent a double bond connecting two arbitary carbon atoms]. EXAMPLE: 7-Phenylthio-Δ 6 -prostaglandin-I 1 methyl ester. USE: Medicines or synthetic intermediate of a variety of prostaglandin derivatives. The compound, itself, is expected to show prostaglandin I 2 -like activities such as blood platelet coagulation inhibition, smooth muscle relaxation or blood pressure lowering. PREPARATION: The reaction of a vinyl ether derivative of formula II with a sulphenyl halide of R 4 SX (X is halogen) is effected in a solvent such as benzene at 20W-1,000°C for 1minW1hr to give the compound of formula I.
