Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of simultaneously printing plural pieces of information at high speed and in high quality by a method wherein plural printing carriages each equipped with a printing head are so arranged that they can move independently of each other. CONSTITUTION:Printing carriages 8, 8' equipped with petal-shaped printing heads 1, 1', type selecting motors 2, 2', hammers 5, 5' and the like are fitted to movable pieces 9, 9' of linear motor (LM), which are arranged on an LM stator 10, and this assembly is combined with a platen 6 on which is wound the printing paper 7, to constitute a printer. By using the printer and by printing while controlling the movable pieces 9, 9' independently so that they do not collide with each other, a high-performance printing is obtained about two times as high as the conventional printing method where a single printing carriage is utilized.
