Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To apply a thin metal film to the desired part of an objective body of transfer without need for the process of removing the thin metal film, by providing a pattern forming layer which bonds the thin metal film with an adhesive layer, in the thermal transfer sheet having a thin metal film built therein. CONSTITUTION: A releasing layer 2 consisting of a transparent or translucent resin is provided on a substrate sheet 1, then a picture layer 3 is printed on the releasing layer 2 by using dyes and pigments with the feeling of transparency, and a transparent resin layer 4 for closely contacting the picture layer 3 or the releasing layer 2 with the thin metal film layer 5. The thin metal film 5 is prepared by vacuum deposition or the like. Then, the thin metal film layer 5 and the adhesive layer 7 are bonded together, and the pattern forming layer 6 is provided for ensuring that the stripping occurs at the interface between the substrate sheet 1 and the releasing layer 2. Further, an adhesive layer 7, a coloring layer 8 and an adhesive layer 9 are provided. When the thus prepared thermal transfer sheet is subjected to thermal transfer process, the parts of the sheet where the pattern forming layer 6 is present are stripped between the substrate sheet 1 and the releasing layer 2, while the other parts undergo stripping at the lower surface beneath the thin metal film layer 5.
