Compound thin-film magnetic head

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the resolution for a compound thin-film magnetic head formed by laminating the magnetic resistance type and the magnetic induction type heads, by using the barber pole type head for the former head and at the same time securing a flat surface for at least one of the both heads. CONSTITUTION:The shielding film 2 and the insulating film 3 are provided on the substrate 1, and then the barber pole coil 5 is formed on these films. Then the silicon oxide is sputtered onto the coil 5, and the insulating film 6 having a flat film surface is provided. Thus a barber pole type magnetic resistance type thin-film magnetic head is formed. Then the shielding film/resistance magnetic film 7, the gap insulating film 8 and the induction-type magnetic film 9 are formed successively onto the above- mentioned thin-film magnetic head. Thus a compound magnetic head is obtained.
