Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve transmission characteristics of interference filtes and decrease the losses of transmitted light by combining prisms formed with multilayer interference filters on one face and enabling the reflected light to be taken out at a right angle to the incident light. CONSTITUTION: In the case in which the angles of two angles out of three angles of a prism are defined as θ 1 , θ 2 and the refractive index of prism material is defined as (n), a multila multilayer film interference filter is formed on the face sandwiched by the angles θ 1 and θ 2 of the prism 1 at which the angles θ 1 , θ 2 and the refractive index (n) satisfy the relations shown by the formulas (1) and (2) and two pieces of the prisms 1 having been constituted in this way are combined to form a parallelogram and are so installed that the reflected light exit face 4 becomes parallel to the ray 21 incident from a fiber 11. The transmitted ray 22 of the light incident to the interference filter face 2 out of the ray 21 advances straightly linearly but the ray 23 reflected by the interference filter face 2 is totally reflected by the total refleting face 3 and emits in the direction perpendicular to the incident ray 21.
