Manufacture of dehydrated gamma-manganese dioxide

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To easily obtain dehydrated γ-MnO 2 useful as a depolarizer for a dry cell by dielectrically heating γ-MnO 2 contg. bound water under conditions enough to allow the water to be lost without practically converting the γ-MnO 2 into β-MnO 2 . CONSTITUTION: Natural or chemically produced γ-MnO 2 contg. bound water is dielectrically heated with an electronic oven or the like under conditions of temp. and time enough to allow the water to be lost without practically converting the γ-MnO 2 into β-MnO 2 to obtain dehydrated γ-MnO 2 having surface dehydrated microporous which remarkably accelerate discharge reaction and increased activity for use in a cell.
