Dry type desulfurization process

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To effect a highly efficient recovery of sulfurous acid gas as a simple substance of sulfur by a method wherein gas containing sulfurous acid gas is added with about an equivalent of the gas containing hydrogen sulfide and subject to a low temperature Claus reaction. CONSTITUTION: A waste gas from boilers, etc. which contains sulfurous acid gas is added with hydrogen sulfide from a hydrogen sulfide generator 4 so that a molar ratio of 1:2 or a little higher is obtained for sulfurous gas to hydrogen sulfide in the gas. The mixed gas is then sent to the Claus furnace 8, where a low-temperature Claus reaction occurs and simple substance of sulfur is deposited on catalyst. Then, the sulfur-deposited catalyst is heated to recover the simple sulfur substance. In this manner, simple sulfur substance is efficiently recovered. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
