Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To shorten the high-speed period of a tape and to stop the tape smoothly even in case of a difference in reel diameter by controlling a tape running speed before a stop position by using a tape running position and by making it different according to the reel diameter. CONSTITUTION: When reel spindle 3 in rewinding mode is rotating at a maximum rotating speed, this rotating speed is converted by photodetector 16, etc., into a voltage higher than a reference voltage. As counter 18 shows [0029], the rewinding speed of a tape is suddenly reduced as shown by (b), through FF21, etc., and as the rotating speed of reel spindle 3 lowers as shown by (c), the output voltage of converter 19 becomes equal to the reference voltage, so that the speed of the tape will nearly be constant. Next, as counter 18 shows [009], the rotating speed of reel spindle 3 is slowed down, as shown (e), through FF22 and the tape speed becomes nearly constant. When the counter shows [0], the tape stops. The above description handles a 10" reel, but to use a 7" reel, switch 34 is changed over to at the dotted-line side, so that the tape can smoothly be stopped in a short time.
