Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the wasteful consumption of the toner and the staining of a transfer roller and the back surface of recording paper by connecting a high resistance in series to the transfer roller thereby preventing the injection of the charge to a photosensitive drum in a blind area. CONSTITUTION: When there is recording paper between a transfer roller 19 and a photosensitive drum 9, electric current hardly flows through the roller 19 and when there is no recording paper, the electric current of μA order flows. Because of this, a high resistance 51 is connected in series to the roller 19 and is so set that the current flowing when there is no recording paper in the transfer position becomes minimum. As a result, the transfer bias voltage is automatically dropped automatically when the current flowing through the roller 19 increases, whereby the increase in the current may be prevented, the injection of the charge to the drum 9 in the blind area prevented and the wasteful consumption of the toner and the staining of the recording paper prevented. It is possible to apply desired bias voltage through the high resistance 51 when there is recording paper in the transfer position. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
