Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To ensure a steady reading regardless of the type of the writing tool, by providing a band pass filter having such property as to transmits through part of the visible rays into the optical path. CONSTITUTION: The infrared ray cut-off type filter 1-5 plus the filter 1-6 which cuts off the short wavelength side of the visible rays are inserted into the optical path. (The combined spectral transmission factor property of the filters 1-5 and 1-6 is shown by the curve 3-1.) the optical reading device 1-11 consists of the paper 1-2 with the pattern written on (including the reading subject pattern 1-3 and the pattern 1-4 written in the drop-out color), the photoelectric transducing part 1-12 (consisting of the light source 1-1, lenses 1-5 and 1-6, image-forming lens 1-7, image sensor 1-8, sensor amplifier 1-9 and A/D converter 1-10), the buffer memory 1-1 and the recognizing unit 1-14 each. The output of the part 1-12 is transferred successively to the memory 1-13. And the electrical image of the pattern is held in the memory 1-13 at the moment when the raster scanning completes for the pattern 1-3. Then the features of the pattern are extracted 1-14.
