Rolling type exhaust brake valve
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To provide an exhaust brake valve having a high durability, by making the valve opening and closing motion smooth by employing a disk-shaped valve member so that it is rolled with its peripheral portion being held in contact with the inner wall surface of the exhaust brake housing. CONSTITUTION: Exhaust brake housing 1 is provided with a valve-member reciprocating passage 5 which is extended horizontally in a direction perpendicular to exhaust-gas passage 3. Disk-shaped valve member 4 is connected, at its center shaft, pivotally to a support shaft 8 which is in turn connected to piston rod 7, so that it is rolled along passage 5 along with reciprocal motion of piston rod 7 with a portion of its circumferential surface 4' being held in contact with the inner wall surface 6 of housing 1, so as to open and close the exhaust-gas passage 3. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to make the valve motion smooth and to prolong the service life of valve by protecting bearing 10 against wear due to reciprocal movement of piston rod 7.
