Manufacture of ferrite powder
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To manufacture ferrite powder having high activity and superior sinterability by hydrolyzing a mixture of metal alkoxide and metal acetyl acetonate and subjecting the resulting ferrite powder to hydrothermal synthesis while heating under pressure. CONSTITUTION: Metal alkoxide represented by formula M(OR) (where M is a mono- to pentavalent metal and R is alkyl) and metal acetyl acetonate represented by formula C 5 H 7 O 2 are mixed and hycrolyzed to form ferrite particles of ≤0.1μm particle size. The particles are then subjected to hydrothermal synthesis at 300W 1,000°C under ≤1,000 atm. Thus, uniform ferrite particles of ≤5μ particle size are obtd. In order to especially obtain fine particle powder of ≤0.1μ, the hydrothermal synthesis is carried out at 400°C under about 500 atm for 3hr. When the heating temp. exceeds 1,000°C, particles are grown remarkably and the desired fine particles are not obtd. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
