Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To realize a use of the humidity sensor even with sticking of the waterdrops, by covering the periphery of the element which detects the relative humidity with the porous film having a high air transmittance and high water repellency due to the fact that the electric resistance varies to the relative humidity. CONSTITUTION: The humidity sensor consists of moisture-sensitive element 1 composed of the metal oxide such as Fe 2 O 3 and the like and detecting the relative humidity, elecrode 2 formed on the surface of element 1 and others due to the fact that the electric resistance varies to the relative humidity. Then the periphery of element 1 is covered with porous film 4 which has a high air transmittance and high water repellency and is composed of, e.g., tetrafluoroethylen or the like and having maximum 95% porosity (air transmittance) plus the 50psi water repellency each. As a result, the waterdrops or the like are repelled by film 4 but the moisture transmits through this film. Thus the humidity sensor can be used sufficiently outdoor and even in the heavy rain.
