Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To make it possible to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio at low cost by recording and reproducing signals on and from the reverse surface of a plastic base body by coating the base body with a plastic material nearly equal in refractive index to the base body and then by forming a recording layer on it. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of plastic-made base body 1 worked into a disk, a plastic material whose refractive index is nearly equal or close to that of base body 1 is applied and hardened to form coating layer 3. Consequently, flaws 2 in the surface of base body 1 are filled with the material to form a mirror surface. On coating layer 3, recording layer 4 is formed to complete an optical memory medium. Recording and reproducing information on and from this memory medium are performed through the reverse surface of base body 1. This constitution eliminate an influence of the flaws in base body 1 to obtain a high signal-to-noise ratio. Further, the reverse surface is used for the recording and reproduction, the advantage is that no influence of sticking dust is exerted.
