Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To appropriately carry out the detection of the lowered state of the awakening degree of a driver by detecting, on the basis of a steering operation signal at the time of monotonous driving in which there is a possibility of lowering of the awakening degree, that the variation in the awakening degree in a unit hour exceeds the set value, to discriminate this state as the lowered state of the awakening degree. CONSTITUTION: When a steering operation signal is produced from a circuit 21, OR circuits 23 and 25 produce signals by the comparison operation of the thus produced signal with the levels V 1 and V 2 of comparators 22a, 22b and 24a, 24b. By the output signal from the OR circuit 23, a time setting circuit 26 is turned on during a time t. However, then the OR circuit 23 is turned off within the time t, the circuit 26 is turned on after the lapse of the time t by the output signal from an inverter 27. When the circuits 25 and 26 are in the on state, an AND circuit 28 is turned on, the holding circuit 29 assumes a holding state for a certain time by the output generated therby. In this case, when the vehicle is in a monotonous driving state, a detection circuit 30 is turned on, and a counter circuit 31 counts outputs from the circuit 29 and produces a pulse utilizable as an alarming signal.
