Measuring apparatus for sealing distortion of glass body
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To increase the degree of accuracy of measuring the glass body sealing distortion and to simplify the measuring by combining a polarizer having polarizing property, an analyzer and optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:Interposing a petri dish 4 filled with a transparent dip 5 having the almost same reflactive index as the glass constituting an object to be tested between them, a polarizer 6 having polarizing property and an analyzer 7 are placed so that their vibrational directions are perpendicular to each other, and connected to a light- emitting diode 10 and a detector 12 through optical fibers 9 and 11 respectively. A reed switch 1 being an object to be tested is properly moved in the dip 5 so that angles made by the axis centers of reed pieces 1b and 1b' and the vibrational directions of the polarizer 6 and the analyzer 7 are 45 deg.. Then sealed portions 1e and 1e' to be measured are placed between an irradiating surface 9a and a light- receiving surface 11a. Consequently, according to the residual distortion quantity of the sealed portions 1e and 1e', the quantity of the light from the light-emitting diode 10 which passes through the analyzer 7 increases, and is quantitatively measured by the detector 12.
