By-pass system for optical data highway

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To avoid the attenuation of signals, by making expensive optical path switching elements unnecessary, through by-passing after the conversion of an optical signal into an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:In making a station(ST) by-pass, by-passing is made after the conversion of an optical signal into an electric signal. In this case, the power supply 6 for a photoelectric converter 1 and for an electro-optic converter 4 is different from the power supply 8 for a station controlling circuit 7. Further, the power supply for station by-passing consists of a normal power supply and backup power supply, and electric power is supplied only to the photoelectric converter 1, the electro-optic converter 4 and the devices coupling them at the time of by-passing.
