Dove prism

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To eliminate the adverse influence of an image owing to anomalous luminous flux and obtain the image of good resolving power by forming the top face of the prism into a light scattering face or light absorbing face and preventing light from reflecting or transmitting on or through this face. CONSTITUTION: A Dove prism 10 consists of an upper bottom face 11 of a narrow width, a lower bottom face 12 of a broad width parallel to this, and four side faces 13W16 formed by connecting the sides and sides of the upper and lower bottom faces 11, 12. The inside faces 13, 14 of these four side faces assume a luminous flux incident face and exit face to this prism. The upper bottom face 11 of this prism is ground by e.g. abrasive sand or the like to be roughened to 2W5μ surface roughness, whereby it is made into a light scattering or light absorbing face. Since this causes an image to be formed on the photosensitive surface by the normal luminous flux only, the image of good resolving power may be obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
