Mold for continuous casting of metal
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To make possible the partial focusing of high-frequency vibration energy by decreasing the thickness on the side walls near the sections corresponding to the molten steel meniscus of the side walls of a mold. CONSTITUTION: A mold for continuous casting is composed of broad mold faces 1, 2 and narrow mold faces 3, 3'. The wide mold faces 1, 2 have flanges 4, 4 respectively and are provided with high-frequency oscillators 5, 5'. It is preferable to provide the recessed parts 6, 6' of the broad mold face side walls in part or the whole within about 300mm below the stationary level of molten cast metal from the mold upper end. Providing the high-frequency vibrators 5, 5' in plural places is of no problem. By using this mold, an exceedingly good ingot may be obtained at the supply power more than half that of the mold of a fixed thickness. COPYRIGHT: (C)1981,JPO&Japio
