Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To detect safely and securely the indication of abnormality in the current of cooling water system by a method wherein the concentration of hydrogen in the space of a reservoir making the circulation of cooling water to cool the winding is measured, and when the time to increase to a prescribed concentration becomes to be short, it is judged as abnormal. CONSTITUTION:Hydrogen gas is filled up in the tightly closed motor housing of the electric rotary machine to perform cooling, the stator winding is made to be hollow, and moreover a hydrogen gas concentration sensor 60 is provided in the reservoir 6 of the cooling water circulating current system and the concentration of hydrogen gas in the space of reservoir is measured. When the concentration of hydrogen reaches to the prescribed maximum value C2, a gate valve 65 and a blower 66 are made to operate to send the carrier air 63 to the reservoir to reduce the concetration of hydrogen to the prescribed minimum value C1. The time T necessitated to reach to the maximum value C2 from the minimum value C1 is measured, and when the time T becomes to be short, it is judged as the indication of generation of the serious abnormality like crack, etc., in the cooling water system.
