Method for treating oil-containing aqueous medium
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To easily coagulate and remove oil components in oil-containing waste water by adding to an oil-containing aqueous medium an ammonium salt or an amine salt of monohydroxystearic acid in which a water-soluble inorganic metal salt is copresent. CONSTITUTION: An ammonium salt or amine salt of monohydroxystearic acid such as a monoethanolamine salt of 1, 2 hydroxystearic acid, and an aqueous solution of a water-soluble inorganic metal salt such as calcium chloride or the like in a suitable quantity, and stirred. By this procedure, the oil components in water are immediately condensed and float up. The thus produced coagulant floc can be easily separated even in a small quantity. This flocculant is easy to be adjusted and handled. In addition to general oil-containing waste water, oil-containing sludges, waste water containing metal cutting oil, waste water in which deyes or resins are mixed can be treated effectively.
