Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To eliminate a speed change time to pring data efficiently by moving forcedly a print head in a low speed to print characters, which should be printed in a high speed, in a low speed when the number of continuous characters, etc., to be printed is smaller than a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION: The transmitted pattern such as character information is stored in line buffer LB, and mode information for the character pattern is stored in mode buffer MB, and the mode of the output from buffer MB is decided by mode decision circuit MJ to decide a Chinese character mode or a numeric mode. Buffers LB and MB are counted up by address counter ADC, and a one-line pattern for one character is transmitted to pattern register PRG. In this transmission, only when it is detected by mode detection circuit MDD that signals on information lines l-1 and l-2 designated by the mode where data is printed next are not zero, a mode change signal is sent to mode control circuit MOC to switch the print head; and when signals above are zero, the print head is moved in a low speed forcedly.
