Analogue multiplier circuit
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To make a circuit stable against temperatures, high-precision, and strong against noise and make it possible to obtain the product of large-amplitude analogue input signals by constituting the circuit by a control means consisting of a comparator circuit and a triangular wave generation circuit, a switch means, and an average means. CONSTITUTION:Comparator circuit 24 compares the first analogue signal V1 and triangular wave V6 from a triangular wave generation circuit with each other and generates output pulse V3 which becomes high-level if the amplitude of triangular wave V6 is smaller than the value of analogue signal V1. When the period and the pulse width of output pulse V3 are denoted as T and t respectively, duty cycle t/T is proportional to analogue signal V1. Since the movable contact of switch means 16 selects the second analogue signal V2 and the ground potential when pulse V3 is high- level and low-level respectively, the high level and the low level of pulse V4 become the value of the second analogue signal V2 and the ground potential respectively, and the pulse width and the period are equal to those of pulse V3. When pulse V4 is averaged by average means 18, output signal V0 becomes equal to the product of t/T and the second analogue signal V2. That is, output signal V0 is proportional to the value obtained by multiplying the first and the second analogue signals V1 and V2.
