Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To achieve higher transmittance of light and moisture resistance by letting iodine be adsorbed only on one side of a polyvinyl alcohol film. CONSTITUTION: In the case of obtaining the polarizing plate by letting iodine be adsorbed on a polyvinyl alcohol film, the adsorption of iodine is confined only to one side of the film and excess iodine is adsorbed on this surface, whereby the degradation in moisture resistance is prevented. In addition, dichromatic coloring matter or dyes are adsorbed on the other side, if desired, to increase the polarization efficiency and transmittance of light of the color polarizing plate and enable the polarizing plate to be thinly constituted.
