Refractory
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To improve the corrosion resistance and service strength of a refractory by blending aggregate composed of predetermined fire resistant inorg. materials with a specified amt. of a low m.p. metal and a thermosetting binder to enable heat curing treatment in a temp. region below 800°C. CONSTITUTION: 55W97% of aggregate composed of one or more kinds of fire resistant inorg. materials is blended with 1W30% of low m.p. metal powder of 0.5mm or less, e.g. Al powder and 2W15% of a thermosetting org. binder such as phenol resin followed by kneading, molding and heat curing treatment at about 100W800°C. By lining a torpedo car with the resulting refractory the hot wear resistance of the car is enhanced. The metal melted at a temp. above the m.p. clogs the pores in brick to prevent acceleration of oxidation. Accordingly, embrittlement at the rear side of an operation surface is prevented, and superior spalling resistance is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
