Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To improve S/N and also to increase track density by forming a read head and write head wider than the read head opposite to each other with a shield layer between them. CONSTITUTION: As for a magnetic head provided to slider floating surface (a) of slider 1 of a magnetic dish device, etc., write head 4 composed of magnetic layer 7 and conductor layer 8, and read head 5 are formed on base body 3. The width of the write head is made greater than that of the read head. Between both heads 4 and 5, shield layer 6 of stacked magnetic layers of copper and Permalloy or conductor layers of copper is inserted and joined together by glass 9, etc. In this way, an electric field or magnetic field is screened by shield layer 6, so that even if heads 5 and 4 are close each other, an influence in write operation will never is exerted upon head 5 as noises.
