Hollow cam shaft having oil pump configuration
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To simplify a lubrication configuration by defining a lubricant feed passage between a hollow section, a cam, a bearing by providing a hollow within a camshaft with the movable section of rotary pump defined for the end of hollow cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A camshaft 1 defines a hollow, lubricant feed passages 3a and 7a being defined between the hollow section 1a thereof, cam 3, and the bearing 7 with the movable section 13 of rotary pump 11 to configure at the end of a hollow camshaft 1. With rotating the movable section 13 of rotary pump 11 together with the hollow cam shaft 1, the lubricant is sucked through an oil inlet port 27a available from a lubrication system to discharge within the movable section 13 from the discharge port 19a. Then, lubricant discharge within the movable section is fed into the hollow section 1a within the hollow camshaft causing to lubricate the external surface of cam 3 and internal surface of the bearing 7 from a lubricant feed passage 3a and 7a. This allows the configuration to simplify owing to having an oil pump built-in.
