Automatic white balance system in color pick up unit

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain automatically the suited white balance at all times, by the ratio of the photo electric conversion element outputs of two colors taking light widely. CONSTITUTION: The light incident from a broad range including the light incident to the optical system 1 passes through the wide lens 18 and is separated into two color components by the color filters 19, and 20, and they are converted into electric amount with the photo electric converters 21 and 22. The light incident to the wide lens 18 is from a broad range. Although the light component at a reference color temperature can be regarded as the same amount, if the color temperature is shifted, the ratio of outputs from the photo electric conversion elements 21 and 22 is changed. Thus, the memory controller 23 detects and processes the ration of output to produce the control signal based on the ratio of output given in advance depending on the shift of the white balance and to control the gain of the chroma signal amplifiers 8,9,10, allowing to keep the white balance.
