Abstract

Abstract MEW MATERIAL:A 3,4-dihydrocarbostyril derivative of formula I: [R<1> is H, benzyloxycarbonyl, 2-tetrahydropyranyl, R<3> CO(CH2)m-(R<3> is lower alkyl group; m is an integer 1-4), or group of formula II; R<2> is H, benzyl, benzyloxycarbonyl group) R<1> is not H or R<3> CO(CH2)m-when R<2> is H or benzyl group], and its acid addition salt. EXAMPLE:8-(2-Tetrahydropyranyloxy)-5-[3-(N-benzyl-beta-3,4-dimethoxyph enethylamino)-2-hydroxypropoxy]-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril. USE:Remedies or their intermediates for angina pectoris, arrhythmia, and hypertension, e.g. blocking agents having selectivity to heart. PROCESS:A carbostyril derivative of formula III is reacted with an amine of formula IV to give the objective compound of formula I.
