Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To use an atelocollagen, obtained by removing immunoactive groups from collagen molecules, as a remedy for living body tissues. CONSTITUTION: A telopeptide which is an immunoactive group present in the terminal part of collagen molecules is digested and removed selectively with protease other than collagenase to give collagen free from antigenicity (named atelocollagen), which is emulsified with fats and oils, alcohols, surfactants, and water, or alcohols and water, to form a remedy for living body tissues. The product promotes the treatment of damages of connective-tissue membranes and formation of eptithelia free from rejection or allergic reaction because of no immunoactivity, and has a great affinity for living body tissues.
